Health Benefits of IFS Therapy

Interferential Stimulation (IFS) is a stimulation therapy characterized by the crossing or interconnecting of two independent electrical circuits producing medium-frequency currents. The electrical currents have the potential to control or manage pain, likewise in restoring damaged muscle and joint tissues. It is basically because of these reasons that Interferential Stimulation has been widely used particularly by physiotherapists as a therapeutic and physiological treatment.

Some health benefits of IFS treatment
Apart from being able to relieve or control pain from muscle and/or joint injuries, interferential stimulation therapy maximizes the use of electrical currents to stimulate only the affected nerve fibers. Moreover, IFS therapy provides medications into muscle and joint tissues that are denervated, and thus capable to promote and sustain repair and health. So while electrotherapy attempts to stimulate the underlying nerves of affected area, any unnecessary stimulation of nerves responsible for sensation (cutaneous nerves), can be reduced to minimum, if not avoided.

While the above enumerated benefits occur mostly among adults, there are also some recognized benefits of IFS therapy among children. These benefits include increase in bowel movement and improved bowel elimination. IFS treatment may then reduce the need for any medications that help ease the process and surgery perhaps.
